The Element Resources Fund’s (“Fund”) objective is to establish a diversified investment portfolio over the broader resources sector, with a specific focus on quality opportunities with “re-rating” potential. Investments will be structured in a way to manage risk and maximize returns to unit holders.
Gareth Lloyd, the Fund’s Chief Investment Officer, has a demonstrable track record of successful investment in the resources sector over a sustained period. Prior to founding the Fund Gareth was the Portfolio Manager for the LinQ Resources Fund, one of Australia’s largest listed resources funds, and its predecessors being the Rothschild’s Golden Arrow Funds I and II.
The Fund will invest in small to “mid-cap” resources companies across the base metal, precious metal, coal, bulks, uranium and oil and gas sectors via a variety of investment instruments including; equity, debt, convertible notes and options. The Fund will diversify its portfolio through investment in companies across the development spectrum from early stage explorers to producers and whilst these investments will generally be made in publicly listed entities (across global markets), they may include private transactions.
Recent volatility in equity markets combined with a maturing commodities cycle will require careful management and investment selection as well as the ability to access and structure attractive investments in order to outperform the market. It is on this basis that the Fund has been established, specifically to provide investors with continued strong returns from the resources sector in a maturing market using the capabilities of a proven stock picker.
The Fund has elected to base itself in West Perth, Western Australia – the hub of small to medium sized resources companies in Australia rather than in a CBD location.
